A MARTIAL ART  |  by Carlos and Helio Gracie – Late 1920s – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The ‘gentle art’ of movement, strategy and spirit.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu | Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is known for its ground fighting submission-forward techniques – chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulation. Rooted in self defense the practitioner avoids reliance on physical strength and weapons. The aim of Jiu-Jitsu is to control and submit an adversary through the use of movement, leverage, and connection. In essence it teaches any person how to defend themselves regardless of their physical attributes, by technically manipulating force and power rather than confronting it.

For children –  Our kids program establishes a foundation in self-defense, movement drilling and modern Jiu-Jitsu concepts. Classes consist of one-on-one instruction, demonstrations, movement drilling and community activities.  By practicing Jiu-Jitsu children learn how to think creatively, solve problems and focus their attention.
